Marloes Coolen

Marloes Coolen (1984) was born and raised in Oosterhout (The Netherlands), where she also is currently living. After having enjoyed several courses in advertising, marketing and graphic design, she graduated in 2009 from the Academy of Fine Arts, St. Joost, in Breda. Right now, her main occupations are the fine arts (mainly paintings) and illustrating.

Marloes: “There is much in life that surprises and inspires me. All sorts of questions arise; this way the themes for my work are born. Frequently addressed themes in my work are the woman in general, identity, sinister deviations, history, nature and evolution, (medical) science, the art of living, my own life story, emotions and philosophies.

Often, a (dark) romantic, fairy-like taste can be seenĀ  in my work.

My artwork also characterizes itself by a certain stratification, loose line-work and rapid brush strokes. See my Curriculum Vitae for more details.”
